Back many years ago on the SNES Nintendo released "Mario Kart" consisting of the famous characters of the Mario universe such as Peach,Yoshi, Bowser,Luigi and many more.Who would have tought that Mario Kart would have turned out to be the hit it is now.After many succesfull Mario Kart games on the SNES,N64,GBA,GC the beloved franchise made its entry on the Nintendo DS in late 2005.Much like the other Mario Kart titles it would achieve total succes that it can now be talked about as one of the better DS titles. The game ain't new to anyone who's played any Mario Kart game,its still pick your character,difficulty,course and vehicle and you're ready to go.Its really a racing be it clear:this is a racing game,this ain't Mario in another adventure.The Mario Kart serie are some the greatest racing games as they are really fun and they aren't your average racing game.If you think playing Mario characters in some race cars and use weapons such as head searching shells,it is guarenteed you will love this game. or bananas There are different classes in the game.Each character has his own class for exemple Mario is Normal while Toad is light and Bowser is heavy,at least that's what it was in other games.Yet it doesn't affect the game that much except light characters can go faster while heavier ones can bump you really hard.Its nice to have such differences in the game. Mario Kart DS doesn't dispoint at all,in fact its one of the most satisfying DS games you'll ever play.A thing that helps make the game so good is the replayability factor wich is really good as there is a lot on this game to keep you entertained for years to come.The Grand Prix mode is classic,you compete in four races while trying to get the best position possible from 1-8,with 1 being best and 8 being the worst.Each position will earn you different amount of points,get as most point as you can,that way you can earn trophies. There is also the battle mode,Balloon Battle is where everybody has three ballons and try to pop everyone's balloons to win.Then there is also in battle mode Shine Runners,where you try to get as many stars as you can and even steal the opposition's stars.Other thing is Time Tryals where you try make the fastest lap and time,you will have to defeat your best record's ghost.Another mode is VS where you pick a map and race against computers.The new mode here is Missions where you have to complete missions and beat bosses(while still in your car).I found that new mode quite interresting and the boss battles are really great! If you have the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection you will be able to race against other DS and Mario Kart owners wich is a pretty fun option.It doesn't really add anything new but playing with your friends or other peoples is pretty cool. The only bad thing is that Nintendo didn't make full use of the DS's capacities.The stylus is not used to race,and the mic doesn't do anything at all,so on the control side it could have been better but the buttons feel alright to play with.The stylus is used to travel troughout menus and to draw you custom logo,wich you can have on your car if you want,the mic however is not used at all. As i said earlier in this review this game is great because of its replayablility.With all the modes it has it will make play it for a while.Alsi there are a lots of unlockables such as new Grand Prix,characters(there are new characters in it!) and a ton of different vehicles for each characters.Waluigi was added as a new character,Dry Bones is also new to the franchise and he's probably the best character in the game.The other new charater is Rob,a robot who's pretty bizarre and doesn't really fit the game at all but still... Add to all that,the maps are designed very well and are very creative,with beautifull graphics for the DS.As simple as it sounds Mario Kart DS is enourmously entertaining and worth the tag price.After all that time it still is one of the games i play most for my DS.If you are a fan of Mario,racing or you have a Nintendo DS this an essential title to your collection.I give it the highest rating possible it really is that good. ...By One Of The Definitive Nintendo DS Titles
